John Knox, 89, a longtime attorney for Allstate Insurance Co., died Thursday in Hinsdale Hospital. He was born in Des Moines and attended the University of Chicago. He worked as a law clerk for U.S. Supreme Court Justice James McReynolds for two years before returning to Chicago to work for Allstate He retired in 1973. Mr. Knox was a member of the Society of Mayflower Descendants, the Society of Colonial Wars and the Sons of the American Revolution. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Grace Episcopal Church, 523 Lake St., Oak Park.
