As a Catholic educator who happens to be white, I am appalled at the racist behavior exhibited by Brother Rice basketball fans during a recent game against Thornton High School. Why didn’t Brother Rice administrators, faculty members and coaches who were present call a timeout and eject those responsible for the disruption?
If adults in positions of authority are unwilling to counter a display of prejudice occurring in their midst, how can we expect our young people to practice tolerance and demonstrate moral conduct?
