– Bill Besenhofer, Notre Dame: Working on just three days of practice after the basketball season, the four-sport athlete had nine hits in 13 at-bats. Besenhofer also had five RBIs.
– Rob Fischer, Lyons: The senior had six hits, two home runs, five RBIs and three stolen bases for the week. Fischer hit both of his home runs off of No. 4 Sandburg.
SOFTBALL
– Melissa Cozzi, Stagg: Allowed no earned runs and just six hits in 16 innings, holding her opponents to a .113 batting average. Cozzi struck out 13, picked up two victories and pitched four shutout innings of relief.
– Shannon Perry, Addison Trail: The freshman knocked out three hits, including a home run, drove home six runs, scored three and swiped two bases in Addison Trail’s 19-8 victory Saturday.
GIRLS SOCCER
– Cathy Kelly, Richards: Scored five goals, including a three-goal hat trick in a victory over Rich Central, during the Bulldogs’ 3-0 start.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
– Mason Phelps, Naperville North: Had seven kills and five ace-blocks in a three-game victory over Lincoln-Way, including four kills and two blocks in the third and deciding game for the Huskies.
BOYS GYMNASTICS
– Ronny Tazioli, Mundelein: Placed second in the all-around at the Lake Park invitational with an 8.27 average and finished first on the vault with a 9.1. The freshman led the Mustangs to the invite title.
