Standing at the intersection of Chicago and Steger Roads, it may be difficult to imagine the village as home to herds of deer. But Steger’s eastern side, typified by 1- to 5-acre wooded home sites, attracts not only deer but hunters.
In response, village officials recently restricted bow hunting within the village limits to target practice.
“I don’t have any objections to people shooting arrows at targets,” said village President Lou Sherman at Monday’s Village Board meeting. “But I do have objections to shooting arrows at animals within the village limits. This should put a stop to that.
“They might end up shooting at little kids.”
