Police are investigating a Bull Valley man and his business after he was arrested Wednesday in connection with fraudulent bank loans and bad checks, said Woodstock Police Sgt. Richard Johns.

Richard R. Lacroix, 42, of 8914 Mason Hill Rd., rented a storefront business called Hunter Court Farms Inc. on the Woodstock square and sold gourmet vegetables in bottles to retail establishments, according to Johns.

Police began the investigation after area residents and retail establishments filed complaints against him. Lacroix has allegedly issued bad checks and obtained fraudulent loans in excess of $45,000.

Lacroix was charged with four counts of felony deceptive practice and three counts of theft over $300 and several lesser charges, according to a police report.

Detective Jeff Rhode of the Woodstock Police Department is asking that any area residents who have been issued a bad check or has been victimized by LaCroix to call (815) 338-2131.
