Guess who’s coming to dinner in Tokyo as an ambassador? Sidney Poitier. The actor, who holds dual U.S. and Bahamian citizenship, will serve as the Bahamas’ ambassador to Tokyo. Poitier won’t actually be an ambassador-in-residence since the Bahamas does not have an embassy in Japan. He’s visited Japan twice, once on a family vacation and once to see director Akira Kurosawa.
