Four residential units were left uninhabitable and one was damaged severely Tuesday night when a fire swept through an eight-unit building within Rob Roy Country Club Village in the 600 block of Edinburgh Lane, authorities said.

Twenty-eight firefighters extinguished the fire about a half-hour after they were called at about 9 p.m., said Prospect Heights Fire District Chief Donald Gould.

The cause of the fire was under investigation Wednesday, but the blaze was believed to have begun in a second-story unit, Gould said.

He said damage to the building probably would exceed $200,000.

No injuries were reported.
