Deere & Co. has spent $29 million for a 60 percent interest in an agricultural-equipment manufacturing operation in China. Although Deere combine technology has been licensed in China since the early 1980s, the Moline-based company said the joint venture with Jiamusi Combine Harvester Factory in Heilongjiang Province is Deere’s first into factory ownership in the country. The factory will produce combines for use in China as well as eventual export to the Asia-Pacific region.
