A.M. Castle and Co. reported second-quarter profits dropped 12 percent, to $6.1 million, or 44 cents a share, from $7 million, or 50 cents a share, in the year-earlier period.

The Franklin Park-based company, which provides engineered materials and processing services to industrial companies, said revenues in the quarter rose more than 7 percent, to $188 million from $174.8 million.

For the first six months, earnings fell 16 percent, to $12.3 million, or 88 cents a share, from $14.6 million, or $1.05 a share. Revenues rose 4 percent to $365.3 million from $349.8 million.
