Marcel Albert Ackermann, 83, a retired music teacher who worked in the Chicago public school system for 40 years, died Wednesday in Palm Harbor, Fla. For 30 years of his teaching career, Mr. Ackermann, a Chicago native, was the band director at Farragut High School on the West Side. He also directed the concert band at Roosevelt University in Chicago for 20 years and served as the director of instrumental education for the Chicago school system before he retired in the late 1970s. Mr. Ackermann and his wife, Dorothy, moved to Palm Harbor in 1980. Besides his wife, survivors include a daughter, Dorelle Jean; a son, Bruce Alan; and a granddaughter. Services will be in Palm Harbor, Fla.
