“Coast to Coast”: This CBS news- magazine, which had a cup of coffee in prime time during the main season, is back for a summertime run (8 p.m., WBBM-Ch. 2). What distinguishes it from other newsmags is that it is more interested in interesting tales than in playing gotcha or in warning yuppies about freak lifestyle hazards. Correspondent Alison Stewart (ex of MTV), for instance, reports on a former Seattle street teen who received a full scholarship to Smith College; it’s a perfunctory telling of an intriguing story. Better is Bernard Goldberg’s visit with Harold Rosen, the Compaq Computer chairman who, with his brother Ben, are developing an automobile engine they hope will revolutionize the industry.
