Roselle trustees approved a landscape irrigation system for Village Hall, the police department and fire station at a cost of $22,612, but at least one board member thinks the system is a waste of money.
“Water used this way can be wasteful and costly,” said Trustee Joseph Devlin. “I hope if we’re going to use this system that we’ll at least comply with water restrictions and use timers and such to save money, but for such a small space, I think it’s hard to justify.”
Officials plan to install the system around the new plaza linking the Village Hall, police and fire departments.
“I think the use is justified, considering the money we will be putting into the new landscaping,” said Trustee Diana Eckert.
Western Irrigation of West Chicago was awarded the contract.
