Northern Illinois Gas asked the Illinois Commerce Commission for permission to expand its program allowing customers to choose their supplier of natural gas. The proposal, called Customer Select, would include up to 20,000 customers starting next spring and 150,000–including single-family homes–in three years. NiGas would continue to deliver the gas, which would be supplied by other gas companies that choose to join the program. NiGas asked the ICC for a decision by October.
