Quilting is one of the cherished folk arts of the Mennonites and Amish, and about 100 quilts will be offered at auction Saturday at the Chicago Mennonite Festival and Quilt Sale at Redeemer Lutheran Church Center in Elmhurst.

The quilts, featuring log cabin, double wedding ring and lone star patterns, among others, go up for bids at 10 a.m. Doors open an hour earlier, and the bidding is expected to conclude by 2 p.m. Proceeds of the auction benefit the Chicago Mennonite Learning Center, an elementary school on Chicago’s South Side.
