Harry Giovanni, 90, a retired letter carrier who lived for many years in Des Plaines, died Tuesday of cancer. A native of Chicago, Mr. Giovanni grew up in the Lakeview neighborhood. He worked as a shipper at Montgomery Wards before working for the post office for 20 years. Mr. Giovanni was an avid fisherman who practiced his sport with his sons at the Chain o’ Lakes and in Kansas. He is survived by three sons, Robert, Philip and William; a daughter, Margaret DeLonghi; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of St. Matthew Catholic Church, 1001 E. Schaumburg Rd., Schaumburg.
