Thomas J. Reen, 92, of Naperville, a 28-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, died Sunday in Edward Hospital, Naperville. Born in Rathmore, County Kerry, Ireland, Mr. Reen came to the United States in 1922 and lived in Chicago before moving to Naperville. As a police officer, he was assigned to City Hall and the Water Department and was a traffic cop. He retired in 1971. Before becoming a police officer, Mr. Reen worked for the Chicago Park District as a trash collector in Lincoln Park. He also was a security guard for the Illinois Central Railroad for about 15 years, his son-in-law Larry Lucas said. Survivors include four daughters, Patricia Lucas, Mary Fran Hannon, Sheila Foltyn and Marjorie Herlihy; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 33 S. Mill St., Naperville. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the funeral home, followed by mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Chapel, 1400 Brookdale Rd., Naperville.
