John “Jack” Gleason, 70, of Chicago, died Thursday in Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park. A lifelong resident of Chicago’s South Side, Mr. Gleason was a World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Gleason was a retired electrician for the Chicago Fire Department. He was a devoted grandfather and could often be found cheering on his grandchildren at various sporting events and recitals, said his son, Michael. Other survivors include two daughters, Karen Tunney and Julie Cloonan; two brothers; a sister; and nine grandchildren. Mass will be said at 9:30 a.m. Monday in St. Christina Church, 111th Street and Christiana Avenue, Chicago.
