Harold E. Brown, 82, a long-time resident of Park Ridge, died Monday in his home. Born in Hammond, Ind., Mr. Brown was the owner of Harold Brown Fuels in Chicago, which sold heating oil and coal until he sold the business in 1981. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Lions Club in Chicago. An avid traveler, Mr. Brown drove in his motor home throughout the western part of the United States and as far as Alaska. Survivors include his wife, Avis; a daughter, Linda Discher; three grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Drake and Sons Funeral Home, 625 Busse Highway, Park Ridge.
