–Really silly putty
Both U.F.O. Putty (Basic Fun, $2 at Store of Knowledge or FAO Schwarz) and Glow In The Dark Silly Putty (Binney & Smith, $2 where toys are sold) do more than stretch and copy drawings. They also brighten up the night after being exposed to light.
–Pull me out!
Open up Aliens `n Goo (Basic Fun, $5 at FAO Schwarz) and you`ll find a more-cute-than-gross little treat: teensy rubber aliens in silver and green lurking in the hot pink slime.
–Play ball
The Inflatable Wonder Ball (Great Explora-tions, $8 at Learningsmith) is a wonder unto itself. Blow it up like a beach ball, expose it to light and it will look like a starry night thanks to glow-in-the-dark stars inside.
–Twinkle, twinkle
Create awesome special effects with these special glow-in-the-dark art supplies. Specialty Glitter (Mark Enterprises, $2.49 at Pearl) will twinkle on anything once the lights are off. Glow Window Paint ($2.50 at The Alley in Chicago) comes with stencils, like unicorns and stars, so you can make milky white figures right on windows.
–Stick and shine
Give your ceilings and walls the star treatment by covering them with heavenly stickers. Choose from several prepackaged kits (all Great Explorations at Learningsmith and Target): Starry Sky (520 stickers for $10), Star Galaxy (150 stickers for $5) and Milky Way (200 stickers for $5).
–Doodle and draw
Make radiant art with Glow In The Dark Glow Pens (Alpi, $5 at Limited Too) and Crayola Glow In The Dark Crayons ($2.50 where art supplies are sold). But don’t expect miracles: The pens spread a luminescent film in sheer tints, and the crayons glow orange or yellow even though they come in eight colors (for instance, pink glows orange and blue glows yellow). But they’re both still glowing good fun.
