The Caribbean and the United States will blend together this weekend during DanceAfrica Chicago, an explosion of rhythm and movement and a celebration of Africa’s continuing influence on the dance world. Two New York-based dance troupes, Garth Fagan Dance and Marie Brooks Pan-Caribbean Dancers, will perform for the first time at the DanceAfrica festival; Sundance Production, Najwa Dance Corps and Muntu Dance Theatre will also take the stage. And don’t miss the vibrant African marketplace that will be held at the venue all weekend. Four DanceAfrica Chicago performances will held from Friday to Sunday at Medinah Temple, 600 N. Wabash Ave. For information, call the Dancer Center of Columbia College at 773-989-3310; for tickets call Ticketmaster at 312-902-1500.
