Fresh on the heels of City Council approval of a controversial rezoning to allow a funeral parlor to expand into a residential area, a well-known Wheaton attorney is proposing to build 28 town homes on 4.2 acres he owns in that same neighborhood.
Joseph Mirabella and a local developer have submitted plans to rezone the property at 710 E. Pershing Ave. for three-bedroom town homes. The proposal, which includes demolition of Mirabella’s own home, likely will generate strong opposition from neighbors who unsuccessfully fought the nearby Williams-Kampp Funeral Home’s effort to rezone the rear portions of land fronting Pershing.
