The special-use variance granted to Robert’s Marine Service on Illinois Highway 12 in Fox Lake was discussed at the Planning and Zoning Board of Appeals meeting Wednesday night.
Board president Ron Stochel acknowledged that this is the busy season for the boat storage and repair business, and therefore he does not expect the owners to immediately meet restrictions outlined by the variance. Board member Bill Hart agreed to follow up at Robert’s and ensure that the owners understand the terms of the ordinance and their variance.
They include a fence to be repaired or replaced and the restrictions placed on the number of boats allowed to be stored on the property, a maximum of 24. In addition, the special use permit allows only for boats being sold on consignment or for which repair work orders are on file.
Also discussed at the meeting were changes to the Zoning Board’s procedures, including the process used for zoning approvals witthin the village.
