Bullets whizzed around ritzy Beverly Hills on Friday, making tourists and shoppers duck as armored truck guards shot and killed two men in a bank robbery.

The attempted heist occurred outside a building housing three banks on Wilshire Boulevard, near the Rodeo Drive shopping area.

A Beverly Hills police spokesman said the Brinks guards were attacked while wheeling money out of a building. When the robbers showed their weapons, the guards drew theirs and fired. Both suspects were shot, taken to a hospital and declared dead, the spokesman said.

No one else was injured, and police did not believe there were any other suspects on the loose, although nearby streets were blocked off during a search for a getaway vehicle.
