If I could see a new movie by any living director, I would choose Billy Wilder–unequivocally!
From the sinister “Double Indemnity” to the zany “Some Like It Hot,” the impish director with the expansive soul has taken us on flights of fancy through the dark side of human existence, the fluffy clouds of romance and the sunset of a faded movie star; the stark reality of duplicity in a German POW camp to pinnacles of hilarity and the deliciously absurd.
The present genre of film directors is obsessed with graphic sex, blood and gore or insidious psycho-babble.
Billy, where are you, now that we need you!
