A grateful thank you to Barbara Brotman for displaying profound insight in chronicling the remarkable odyssey of a Torah that concluded joyously at Congregation Makom Shalom in the South Loop (“A gift from those who are gone: Memories that should never die,” WomaNews, Nov. 16).
Brotman delineates with sensitivity the horrors of that period, the sadism of the Nazis, the humanity of those who endured. She is a gifted writer; her story, recording the most evil episodes of history, is never to be forgotten.
