I have never seen the headline “Biological parent kills child.” How come, then, the sad story of Angel Martin has been reported under the banner “Adoptive mom charged in girl’s death” (Metro, Nov. 16)? The headline suggests that the mother’s adoptive status offers insight into the tragedy.
The dark insinuation that adoptive parents are more likely to harm their children is statistically inaccurate and offensive.
