One may hope that Herbert London’s research in either of his professional capacities is better than that displayed in his Nov. 21 Op-Ed piece (“Tamagotchi? Our kids deserve real pets”).

When your virtual pet dies, you do not, as Mr. London suggests, need to shell out $15 for a new one–most have “reset” buttons. Perhaps this is truly indicative of the disposable culture Mr.London bemoans. But his worries would sound a little more plausible if he made some effort to know what he was talking about.
