Chrisanthy Catranis, 87, died Tuesday in the Illinois Masonic Medical Center. Mrs. Catranis emigrated from Magoula, Greece, in 1927, and settled in Allentown, Pa., where she met and married her husband, Theodore. In 1946, they moved to Chicago, where they operated Ted Catranis & Son Florists. She was also a benefactor of St. George Greek Orthodox Church of Chicago, St. Athanasios Church of Magoula and St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Chapel of Gulf Shores in Alabama. She was a 50-year member of St. George Church, where she was a past president of its educational society. Mrs. Catranis was also a member of the Sparta Society of Chicago, Pan Laconia National Society and the Hellenic Women’s Philanthropic Association, Soteria. Survivors include a son, Nicholas; two daughters, Paula Athans and Penelope Menegas; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in St. George Church, 2701 N. Sheffield Ave.
