The Gurnee Civil Service Commission has put off making a decision on the firing of a suspended police officer until January, village representatives said.

The commission, which met last week to hear whether Patrol Officer Donald Rager should be discharged for lying about previous employment on his job application, is expected to meet again on the issue Jan. 12.

Rager is charged with failing to accurately disclose prior employment and making other false statements, village attorneys said. His attorney maintains the charges are false.
