Fredrick E. Stahl, 91, a retired Weiboldt’s Department Store executive for many years, died Tuesday of heart failure in his Grosse Pointe, Mich., home. An Ohio native, Mr. Stahl became a retail executive for the department store in 1941 and traveled throughout the Chicago area for the franchise until retiring in 1972. Before his business career, he played football at the University of Nebraska and served in the U.S. Army as a lieutenant colonel in World War II. Survivors include his wife, Gwendolyn; a daughter, Mary Kay Crain; and three grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held Saturday.
