An eight-story condominium building proposed for the redevelopment of Ft. Sheridan will not clash with existing developments on the North Shore, officials of the Town of Ft. Sheridan Co. told members of the Joint Plan Commission recently.

The building, which would consist of 108 condominium units, caused a stir with some residents who fear it would clash with the bucolic suburban character of the area.

The building has been proposed for 2.7 acres of vacant land on the southeast side of the fort’s historic district. The site was chosen because three other possible sites were located within the municipal boundaries of Highwood, which wants to maximize new single-family homes to offset its heavy concentration of apartments.
