Mary N. Igoe, 84, a longtime educator in the Chicago public schools, died Saturday in Christ Hospital and Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Mrs. Igoe worked for 42 years as a teacher and assistant principal at several city schools. Before her retirement in the mid-1970s, she worked for 20 years at Dawes Elementary School, teaching remedial reading and serving as assistant principal. In 1976, she was honored by the city with the Superior Public Service Award for Outstanding Professional Service. She was a founding member of the Irish American Teachers Association. Mrs. Igoe also recorded books on tape for the visually impaired. Survivors include a brother, Dennis Normoyle. Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Germaine Catholic Church, 4240 W. 98th St., Oak Lawn.
