Jon Polito will pop up on both “Seinfeld” and “ER” on Jan. 15. On “Seinfeld,” he’s the never-before-seen super of Jerry’s building, who accuses Newman (Wayne Knight) of having an affair with his wife. In “ER,” he’s a patient with his hand stuck in a toilet. Says Polito of his NBC daily double: “It’s Must-See Polito TV.” In addition, Polito will appear in the next Coen brothers film, “The Big Labowski,” as “a strange bald man in a green VW.” Polito, a Coen favorite, was also in “Miller’s Crossing” and “Barton Fink.”

– BBC Worldwide has begun production on “Noddy,” a half-hour series for kids ages 3-7 airing on PBS next fall. The show will be based on the books of British writer Enid Blyton.

– There are some new faces popping up on daytime dramas this new year. “All My Children” has cast Cameron Mathison in the role of Ryan Lavery; “Port Charles” adds Maggie Rush (who previously appeared in “Loving” and “The City”) as Dr. May, a pediatric surgeon; as “Days of Our Lives” shifts a story line to England, British actress Vicki Stuart is playing the role of pub owner Violet Crumb; and “Another World” has cast Nadine Stenovitch to assume the role of Josie following Amy Carlson’s decision to leave the series. Also on “AW,” John Aprea is gone from the show as the result of a story line decision concerning his character of Alexander.

– Kyle Secor, who plays detective Tim Bayliss on NBC’s “Homicide,” will direct guest stars Steve Allen and Jayne Meadows in an episode of the crime drama airing this month. Allen and his wife play an older couple who shed light on a murder/suicide.
