Police on Sunday found a 3-week-old boy who was kidnapped Friday from the intensive care unit of Cook County Hospital by a woman.
The baby was found at the McDonald’s restaurant at 5059 S. Wentworth Ave., near the Wentworth Area police headquarters, said Kevin Morison, Chicago Police spokesman. Around 5 p.m., a man walked into the Wentworth Area district with the baby’s hospital tag and said the baby was at the McDonald’s across the street.
Police arrived at the scene and saw the baby, a teenage girl and the girl’s mother, Morison said. Police have not been able to track down the mother, who had been living in a Chicago homeless shelter. No one had been charged late Sunday with the kidnapping.
The baby, born addicted to cocaine, had been hospitalized since his birth Dec. 18. He was returned to Cook County Hospital Sunday night.
