Edith Schaefer, 71, of McHenry died Friday in St. Francis Hospital in Peoria. She was employed as a cook at Memorial Hospital for McHenry County in Woodstock until her retirement. She also was a past president of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6791 Auxiliary in West Chicago. She is survived by her husband, Donald; two sons, Clifford and Mark Gibson; three daughters, Linda Bellew, Jodie Perez and Lori Wojtkiewicz; a stepson, David; 22 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Peter M. Justen Colonial Funeral Home, 3807 W. Elm St., McHenry. Mass will be said at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2302 W. Church St., Johnsburg.
