A proposal to build up to 50 units of senior housing has been presented to the Village Board. The Stough Group, which is based in Hinsdale, wants to build the senior apartment complex on one of two locations in Lemont.

Both 5-acre sites are on Main Street. One property is west of Walker Road; the other is west of Julia Street.

Scott Buening, community development director, said the property that is near Julia Street is closer to downtown. Buening said the developer is presenting both options to the village.

The apartments would be available to low-income people 62 and older who are able to live on their own. Rents would be in the $350 to $400 range.
