It is evident that the special prosecutor’s office is again overstepping its bounds. This is not new for Kenneth Starr, since he has been desperate for some sign of success since beginning his vendetta against Mr. Clinton more than three years ago.

Mr. Starr’s latest foray into trying to discredit our president is just one more example of a good idea gone bad. Exploding a young woman’s sexual fantasies into a full-blown investigation of the president is irresponsible at best, and treasonous at worse. Since when does the giggling girl talk of two intimate friends become the substance out of which prosecutors build cases around which many are whispering words like “impeachment”? Monica Lewinsky had no idea that the “bragging rights” of a former intern were being tape recorded to be used against the president.

It is time that we re-examine the laws that have set up the special prosecutor’s office, and it is high time that we begin to talk about impeaching Kenneth Starr.
