Aldermen on Tuesday got a look at new downtown redevelopment plans calling for a new stand-alone, 80,000-square-foot public library.
Under the revised plans, the new library would be flanked by two one-story retail buildings, with a total of 24,000 square feet.
“Quite frankly, the addition of a library to this project brings it to another level,” Bruce Abrams, president of LR Development Co. of Chicago, told aldermen during a meeting Tuesday night.
Under previous plans, a library would have been located in upper floors of a retail building.
