The village likely will contribute more than $11,000 this year to provide more hot meals and home repairs for homebound senior citizens under a preliminary proposal presented to the Village Council.
The DuPage Senior Citizens Council proposes to use $7,475 to provide meals to more than 250 senior citizens in the village, an anticipated increase of 8.5 percent in number of senior citizens over a year ago. The total number of meals to be served to village residents in 1998-99 is expected to be 29,894, according to the Senior Citizens Council. The cost to the village would be about 25 cents per meal.
Another $3,600 would be used for the council’s home maintenance program.
The Village Council will vote on the $11,075 funding request Monday.
