Bernice Elftmann, 86, of Lombard, died Saturday in the Lexington Health Care Center in Lombard. Born in Rockford, she grew up in Melrose Park and lived there until 11 years ago. Mrs. Elftmann worked for more than 40 years at Illinois Bell Telephone Co. where she started as an operator and later became a supervisor. She was dedicated to her family and her job, said her daughter, Audrey Busse. Survivors also include three granddaughters and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday to be followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. in Toon Funeral Homes, 109 N. Cass Ave., Westmont.
