Writing was poet Susan Napoli Picchietti’s way of coping. “I came from a family of five kids, and no one had time to hear that my pet gerbil died,” said Picchietti. “My writing came out of an emotional need.” Now she wants children “to know their voice matters” through Potluck, her new literary magazine for kids. The Deerfield-based quarterly publishes poems, short stories and book reviews by children 9 to 16. Picchietti works with young writers to hone their work. Potluck is sold at Borders.
