A specialist in using computers in education has taken the helm as North Chicago School District 187’s new director of research, planning and technology.

Dr. Dennis Wisniewski will direct the district’s technology program and develop databases that will be used by teachers.

From 1970 to 1984, Wisniewski taught mathematics and computer programming in various Michigan high school districts. His career since has revolved around educational assessment, in which he has held positions with the Michigan Department of Education, Wayne State University and a Chicagoeducational test publisher.

The District 187 Board of Education in 1997 adopted an aggressive technology plan that aims to expand the number of computers available for students and to train more teachers in their use.
