Dealing with Chicago’s construction traffic can be maddening. For example, sometimes when stuck in a traffic jam, you reroute only to find yourself in a worse mess. Such may be the case when there’s construction on two parallel streets, as when both Addison Street and Irving Park Road simultaneously have heavy roadwork done this summer.
One person who won’t be unnerved is Mayor Richard Daley. According to your April 6 Business story, we taxpayers are dropping $25,000 on a computer routing system unavailable to the general public that will keep hizzoner’s chauffeurs informed of traffic delays so that they can keep his poor nerves from being frazzled.
Remember the next time you’re stuck in traffic that $25,000 of your tax money is being spent to help poor little Richie avoid the jam you’re in. And, please remember next Election Day too.
