Robert E. Covert, 88, of Wheaton and Naples, Fla., died Wednesday in the Wyndemere Retirement Community in Wheaton. Mr. Covert was a former managing vice president of the DuPage County division of the Chicago Title & Trust Co. He earned a law degree from DePaul University and a master’s of business administration degree from the University of Chicago. A World War II veteran, Mr. Covert served as a prosecutor with the Judge Advocate General Corps during the International Military Tribunal for the Far East conducted by the Allies in Tokyo after the war. He had served as president of the Wheaton Lions Club, chairman of the Wheaton Area United Way fundraising campaign and an executive member of the DuPage Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He also was a founding member of the board of trustees of Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. He is survived by his wife, Harriet; a daughter, Bobbi Walsh; and four grandsons. Services will be private.
