If someone thought they saw a putty tat, they probably did. Sylvester and Tweety, the eternally frustrated cat and the canny canary of Looney Tunes, have finally gone postal.
Which is to say that they are now enshrined on a commemorative 32-cent stamp, which, of course, puts them in the same pantheon as the cwazy rabbit, Bugs Bunny, who adorned the most popular stamp of 1997.
William Henderson, the chief operating officer of the U.S. Postal Service, welcomed the cat and the canary, saying, “The Postal Service salutes the important role animated heroes and characters play in America’s great traditions of humor and entertainment.”
