The Northwest Area Arts Council and Main Street Program will host the 11th annual Acres of Art Festival from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 14 in downtown Crystal Lake.
The day will be packed with events, including hands-on art and storytelling for kids, plenty of shopping and cool jazz in an outdoor cafe.
This is the first year the show will include disciplines other than fine arts, said Hollace Emrich, executive director of the arts council.
“We are embracing all of the arts, music and theater and visual arts, and offering them up to the community in a wonderful family-oriented event.”
Artists interested in participating should submit four slides typical of their work, an application fee of $10 ($5 for arts council members), the application form and a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
Slides will be juried for acceptance, and $1,500 in prize money will be awarded. The deadline for receipt of applications is Friday.
For an application, call the arts council at 815-356-3655 or Clix at 815-455-1092.
