– In some editions of today’s Tempo section, a picture of a memorial site for Gen. James Longstreet has incorrect caption information. The memorial will be on Seminary Ridge in Gettysburg, Pa., not in Virginia.
– An item in the Midwest Ticker in Tuesday’s Business section confused two blast furnace explosions at USX Corp/U.S. Steel Group’s Gary Works. The accident for which USX recently reached a $30 million settlement with insurers occurred in 1995 at Gary Works’ No. 8 blast furnace and cut production by 10 percent for four months. The company took a charge in 1995’s second quarter of $34 million to cover the cost of the explosion, which resulted in no injuries.
