Harry Pearce, 55, vice chairman of General Motors Corp., was diagnosed during his annual physical as having leukemia, a form of cancer. GM said Pearce feels well and will continue with his key duties during treatment. Pearce is noted for challenging NBC’s “Dateline” TV show over a report that GM pickup trucks had a tendency to ignite on impact. Pearce got “Dateline” to admit that the fire in its report was staged.
