National-Louis University officials announced Monday that its trustees have named a Decatur, Ill., college president as Louis’ seventh president since its founding in 1886.
Curtis L. McCray, who served five years as president of Millikin University in Decatur, will assume his new duties at National-Louis Aug. 15. He will take over for Edward Risinger, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, who was the interim president.
McCray said Monday some of his initial goals as president will be to build up the university’s number of trustees, to determine how to deal with aging facilities at Louis’ downtown and Evanston campuses and to enhance the university’s longtime focus on teacher training.
Prior to leading Millikin McCray was president of California State University at Long Beach (1988-93) and the University of North Florida (1982-88).
