Anne Wagner, 82, a retired 30-year employee of United Airlines and mother of four, died Thursday of complications from liver failure in Palos Community Hospital. Mrs. Wagner began working for United in the 1950s, first in the flight kitchen and later in clerical jobs. She was described as a strong, charismatic woman. After she retired in 1980, she spent much of her time caring for her husband of 50 years, Henry, who died in 1987. She also was a frequent visitor to Las Vegas and area gambling boats. “She was just a stalwart as far as her children and grandchildren are concerned. She was always there to help,” said her son, William. Mrs. Wagner also is survived by two other sons, Robert and Thomas; a daughter, Barbara Horstmann; two sisters, Rita Scanlan and Johanna Konrath; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Hills Funeral Home, 10201 S. Roberts Rd., Palos Hills. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Monday in Sacred Heart Church, 8245 W. 111th St., Palos Hills.
